Flaming Gorge NRC

The beautiful Green River originates near the continental divide in the 13,000 foot Wind River mountains of central Wyoming and flows through the scenic Flaming Gorge in the Northeastern corner of Utah. The recreation area is centered around a large artificial lake formed by Flaming Gorge Dam. Much of the lake lies in Wyoming but the most scenic area of the NRA is in Utah where the lake lies beneath steep red cliffs of Weber sandstone. Many of the photos in this gallery originate in this area as we hiked along the Green River below the dam. (The American Southwest)
